The Cowboy and the College Girl. (Chapter 1-5)Chapter 1The CrossingTowing a horse trailer down a busy city street, at rush hour is not an easy task. The traffic was just crawling along. I seem to be going nowhere as the stop lights catch me one by one. I have to get out to a friends house to pick up four horses and haul them back to my farm for the spring. My friend is leaving to go out of town so I must hurry. “I wish I had gone the long way around and avoided all this traffic.” I say to myself as I impatiently drive down the busy street. The traffic finally speeds up a little as we approach the final stop light. I have to stop as it turns red so slow down my truck down and come to stop. I am impatient and looking at my watch. My attention is grabbed as girl steps off the sidewalk and crosses the street in front of me. She looks at me, lowers her sunglasses and smiles at me. “My God, she is beautiful.” I say out loud. She walks a little further and turns and looks at me again. This time she just smiles and waves. The light changes but I am still looking at her. The cars behind me start honking their horns trying to get me to go. I watch her as she steps on the sidewalk on the other side of the street. I move forward and through the stop light. I look back in my rear view mirror and can still see her walking away from. I see a parking lot ahead and pull in it quickly. As I enter the attendant waves his arms and tells me I can’t park here. “That truck and trailer are too big to park here.”I pull into 6 parking places and shut down my truck. The lot attendant is yelling at me “ You can‘t par here“. I pull out my money and tell him “This an emergency. How much to park for 30 minutes?” He tells me “$50 but I will have it towed if you are not back in 30 minutes”. I hand over the $50 dollars and run toward the street. The traffic is heavy and she is no where to be seen. I run up the street to where I last saw her and she is not there. I run even further and still can not find her. She is lost in the crowd on the other side of the street. I climb up on a car bumper for a better view. I see her and my heart jumps. I jump off the bumper and start to run across the street. Cars are everywhere, honking and cursing me as I cross the street. When I reach the other side I can’t see her anymore. I start pushing my way through the crowd and jumping up to see better.I finally reach another street crossing and she is stopped waiting on her turn to cross. I start running to catch her. People are everywhere and I am having trouble getting to her. I see her start crossing the street and I run faster. Finally, I catch up to her. I run up beside her , out of breath from running, I try to speak. All I can get out is hello. She is startled by my approach. She looks at me with a sense of terror in her eyes.I tell her “Wait just a second, I am the guy you waived at. Back at the stop light” She realizes I am not a stalker and she smiles. She says “ I like horses. Do you raise horses?” I am still gasping for air and bent over with my hands on my knees. “ Yes, I have a small farm and I raise a few horses. I am on my way to a friends house to pick up his four horses today.”She starts walking again and says “Nice to meet you.” I say “What’s your name? I want your name so I can find you again.” She keeps walking away from me. She stops and looks back at me and smiles. I start walking toward her. I pull out a paper and ask if she has a pen. She looks in her purse and finds one with purple ink. I write my name and phone number on the paper and give it to her. “ Please call me “ She takes the paper and places it in her purse. She smiles and says “Good bye, you don’t want to be late to your friends house.” I ask her again “What’s your name?” sakarya escort She smiles and says ‘ If I call you I will tell you my name.” She walks away and disappears in the crowd.Chapter 2Patience is a virtue.Three days have passed and she has not called. I check my phone to make sure it is working. I tell myself she lost my number. I drive back to the spot I last talked to her and sit for hours hoping to see her again. Hundreds of people walk past my truck, but not her. I finally arrive at the cold reality, she won’t be calling me. I won’t get to see her beautiful face again. I drive back home with a broken heart.Every time my phone rings, my heart jumps with joy hoping it is her. Each time I am disappointed. The voice on the other side of the phone is never her. I get to the point I hate my phone and question my sanity. I turn it off and put it away to gain some control over the situation.I can’t leave it alone, I keep turning it back on and checking to see if she has called. Time after time, day after day. Nothing. No calls from my beautiful girl.I don’t know her name so I make one up. I call her Vanessa just to have something to call her in my mind. I am going crazy over this girl. Time moves ever so slowly and the days seem to take forever. Three days, then four days, then five days. I am losing hope. I will never see her againand I can do nothing about it. I try not to think about her but I wake up thinking only of her. I go to work, I think of her. I go home I think of her. I feed the horses, I think of her.On the sixth day I give up and tell myself to “Move on. Forget about her and move on with your life. This is crazy and not healthy.” I finally decide to get a new phone and change my number then I have control again. I tell myself “She can’t call me because she won’t have my new number.” Then I am back in charge of my life. I drive to the phone store and stand in the long line. I have been standing there for about 30 minutes, two more people in front of me. Now their is only one person in front of me.My phone rings, it is a number I don’t recognize. I answer it thinking it is sales call or wrong number. “Hello” I say with some agitation. The sweet voice on the other end of the phone says “Hi, this the girl you chased down on the street on Saturday. Do you remember me?” My heart melts and I am instantly happy.Chapter 3.The Voice of an AngelThe man at the service counter says “Sir can I help you.” I tell him “No, everything is perfect now.” It was her, she called me. I walk out of the phone store and on to the sidewalk. “Yes, I remember you” I tell her with laughter in my voice. She speaks ever so softly, “I am sorry Idid not call you sooner but I was out of minutes on my phone. I just got some more minutes today.” I pretend not to be as happy as I really am, or care how much time has passed and say “It is okay, I was sure you would call me when you had time.”“How are you?” she asks with some hesitation in her voice. “I am great, just out in town running some errands.” I reply. “What is your name? You never told me.” I ask her with some conviction in my voice. “I will tell you when we meet again.” She says with a giggle. “When do you want to meet? I am available now.” I ask her with a very hopeful tone. She hesitates before answering. That few seconds of silence seemed like an hour before she responds. “Now is good. Do you know where the coffee shop is across from the post office?” As luck would have it I look up the street and I can see the Post Office. “Yes I know where it is and I am only a few minutes walk from there.” I answer. She tells me to meet her in 5 minutes.I end the call. I look at my phone and I have her number. If nothing else comes out of this meeting, I have her number adapazarı escort and hopefully will get her name. I walk up the street and as I approach the coffee shop I see her standing there waiting on me. She is beautiful. Her smile is instant when she sees me walking toward her. She does not wait on me, she walks toward meand gives me a hug. I give her a hug too. She felt wonderful and she smelled even better. Her hairtickled my nose I pulled in her close to me. We walk inside the coffee shop and sit down at a small table.“You have me at a disadvantage. You know my name. I don’t know yours.” I say to her as she places her sunglasses up on her head. She just smiles and says “I will tell you when the time is right. Be patient and you will find out everything you want to know.” She picks up a menu from the table and start looking at it. I ask her “Is the food good here?” I am holding a fork in my hand twirling it around without realizing that I am. She says the food is very good and she always likes the fish they have on Fridays. She watches me twirl the fork and smiles at me and reaches out and touches my hand. “Don’t be so nervous, I am just a girl, I don’t bite.”We sit there for an hour and talk. I still don’t know her name. She will not tell me. It has become a game for her. She is toying with me. I take out my phone and look at it. I see her number and push the send button. her phone starts to ring and she answers it. She realizes it is me and laughs. “ Why are you calling me?” she asks me with as she looks at her phone. “I was just checking to see if it was your number you called me from.” I say with a laugh. She does not find it amusing. “ You do not trust me enough to ask me if I you have my number, you have to check and see.” She says with great aggravation in her voice. “I knew this was a mistake I should never have called you.” She says as she stands up and walks away.Chapter 4The long afternoon. As she stands and starts to walk away, I jump up and ask her not to leave. “Please sit back down and talk to me. If you don’t like my explanation then you can leave.” She stops walking and comes back to the table. She does not sit down, she stands there looking at me. “I am listening, tell me why.”I explain my actions to her by saying “I called your number to see if it was really your phone you called from. I did this because you are beautiful, perfect and wonderful. In my mind I was thinking what could you possibly see in me and then the self doubt started to creep in. So I picked up my phone and took a chance. If your phone had not started to ring I would have been heart broken but it did ring and my heart was filled with joy as soon as I heard it ring.”She sits back down at the table with me and says. “If you want to be in my life you have to trust me and treat like me I am a princess.” She says with a very concerned look on her face. “It was very difficult for me to call you. I kept wanting to call you, but I was afraid you would be a creep. I decided I would take a leap of faith and give you a call. I did and I was pleasantly surprised at how sweet and nice you are. ”We talk about horses and our lives for the next hour. The Coffee Shop owner comes over several times and refills our cups. He finally asks us if we are ready for some food. She orders their special fish she loves so much. I order a cheeseburger. We talk for another hour as we eat and get to know each other a little better. We lose track of the time and don’t realize 5 hours have passed. The lunch crowd has been replaced with the dinner crowd. The coffee shop owner comes over to us one last time. He says “You are such a cute couple I hate to ask you to leave, but I have some people needing a table for dinner.” We pay our sakarya escort bayan check and leave the coffee shop.We walk out on the sidewalk and in to the crowd of people walking by. She tells me she has a evening class she must attend and must rush to get there. She leans towards me and kisses me on the cheek. She tells me goodbye. I reach down and take her hand and tell her to call me again if she would like to go out for dinner or a movie. She tells me it is my turn to call her since I have her number. I still don’t know her name. I ask one last time, “What is your name?” She just smiles and walks off into the crowd.Chapter 5A day in the Sun.I slept like a baby all night. The stress and disappointment I had felt the past few nights had been replaced with a new sensation, happiness. I had drifted off to sleep clutching my phone like it was my best friend. When I woke up the sun was shining through a small crack in the curtains and I could see the brilliant rays of sunlight highlighting the walls and floor where they shined. It was like the Sun was calling to me.I stumble out of bed and get dressed. I grab a doughnut and cup of coffee from my kitchen and head out to do my morning chores. The horses are glad to see me and even more excited to see the feed bucket I am carrying. I feed each horse and check my chickens to see if I have eggs to collect. My dogs follow me around the farm every where I go. They are both wagging their tails and trying to get my attention. I stop and scratch each dogs ears and they jockey for position to get their ears rubbed. It is a beautiful morning and a great day to be alive. The Ducks and Geese see me and waddle up to me begging for food. The biggest Goose is a Gander named Thor. He is not very friendly but he tolerates me at feeding time. I have to watch him carefully or he will snap at me as I walk away. The rest of the ducks and geese are very easy to work with. This morning Thor is very tolerant and does not offer to chase me. He even very reluctantly takes some food from my hand.I complete all my chores and it is nearly noon. I walk back in the house and decide to call my girl with no name and see if she is willing to go out with me tonight. I call her number and it rings several times and I get no answer. I am disappointed and decide I will try calling her again later in the day. I lay the phone back down and walk away from it. I had only taken a few steps when it rings. I rush back to the phone and it is her. She is calling me back. “Hello” I say with great enthusiasm. She replies “Sorry I missed your call, I was taking a bath.” I say “Thank you for calling me back, if your still busy you can call me back when you get dried and dressed.” She says “ I will call you back in about 10 minutes.” We end the call and I walk back into the kitchen to find something for lunch. As promised she calls me back. “Hi, it is me. Dry and dressed.” she says jokingly. “Before we talk about anything else, please tell me your name?” I ask her. There is a silence on the phone and then she says “ My name is Vanessa.” My response is instant. “ No fucking way! Your name is really Vanessa?” She is surprised by my remark and says “ Why did you say that?” I answer her with “You won’t believe this last week when I didn’t know your name I made one up just so I would have something to call you, it was Vanessa. How cool is that?” She is laughing and says “That is cool. It is like you already knew my name.” We both laugh and talk about her name for a few minutes.I finally get brave and ask her for a date. “Are you busy later today? I would like to take you to dinner if you are free?” She answers quickly “ I would love to go to dinner with you. What time should I be ready?” I explain to her that I have some work to do this afternoon and I will be ready around 6:PM. I suggest we meet at a restaurant near where she lives at 6:PM maybe watch a movie after we eat. I say “Vanessa it was so nice talking to you, I can’t wait to see you tonight.”More to Come.
